The cutaway is the newest modified maxi skirt. The difference between a slit and a cutaway is that a cutaway actually has some fabric taken out as opposed to just a line cut through it. It’s sexy, it shows some skin, and it’s perfect for summer!

This is a slanted cut for the skirt, and it looks fantastic with the crop top!

The way the wind hits a cutaway skirt is gorgeous, because it lets your legs breathe!

I am obsessed with this skirt and have been ever since I saw it in this DKNY ad.

I ADORE this outfit. It’s definitely made for a chilly spring day or a brisk fall one. I love how the tights are added with it! Notice that when it’s that cold, she’s all covered up with the exception of that leg.

This is a great way to dress it down. Lazy, comfy and chic!

Again with such a high cutaway and so much skin on the bottom, you don’t look like a school marm if you cover up a bit on top.

I don’t have any analysis on this outfit other than I just love it.

Every single woman needs a pair of these. Yes, black goes with everything, but these go with everything that even black can’t. That’s why these are so essential: you can wear them with anything you want. Literally anything. Except sweatpants, but I don’t advise the wearing of sweatpants in the first place.

You can color-coordinate, the way Lauren Conrad has done here. The pumps actually match her bag and her skirt, and this is actually a not-so-common way to wear these classic shoes.

This may just be some random girl from Lookbook, but she knows what she’s doing! Ripped cutoffs: probably the most un-work appropriate piece of clothing ever. And yet with a blazer and her nude heels, she gets a look of casual sophistication.

You guys didn’t think I was going to skip over K-Middy, did you?! It’s no secret that Kate Middleton wears hers everywhere. Always paired with an elegant dress, she knows they go with any outfit.

I have no idea who this chick is but she’s the perfect example of my next point. When you can’t figure out what goes with your outfit because you don’t have shoes to match, a nude pair is absolutely perfect.

And last but not least, with a pair of skinnies. Of course.
