Maybelline launched this collection in February, and whoever is head of their product development deserves a raise. It comes in 10 vibrant shades, from hot pinks to popping plums. I only have three of the colors (this is broke college style, after all) and I’ll do a second post on the ones I have. For now, let’s take a look at the whole collection!

860 Pink Pop

This is the epitome of a bubble gum pink. It actually reminds me a lot of Nicki Minaj’s Mac collab!

865 Fuchsia Flash

This is definitely the Barbie pink of the group. I’m actually pretty sure it’s the same color as my high school prom dress. This is one of the ones I own and will review later so stay tuned!

870 Shocking Coral

Coral is SO in this season, and I love how this is a bright coral that’s more red than pink.

875 Vivid Rose

To me, this is a super bright berry that would look great on any skin tone. I have this one too, review to come!

880 Electric Orange

This is definitely made for the more daring lady. The color is so hot right now!

885 Vibrant Mandarin

This shade is one that’s a little more red than orange. Easier for us who can’t really go the full monty orange-wise!

890 Neon Red
Although reds are done year-round, I feel like this is a color that you don’t see very often. I have it and will talk about it in that next review!

895 On Fire Red

This is probably the only color in the collection that is close to something you could find somewhere else. But who doesn’t need an amazing firetruck red in their lipstick arsenal?

900 Hot Plum

What’s amazing to me is that this shade is like Pink Pop’s darker younger brother. The tones are so similar, so if you’re gonna go on a buying spree and either of them work on you, I’d suggest buying them both!

905 Brazen Berry

This deep deep plum would look perfect on darker skin tone. It’s the perfect bright purple for those who’ve got the guts!

Overall these shades are knockouts. A bright, matte lip is so on trend right now, and Maybelline hit the mark releasing these specific shades at this specific time. I’ve found too that trying to find a matte bright shade that doesn’t look cheap is not easy. It’s almost as if they’ve been written off by drugstore cosmetic companies until now, so they had a couple bright ones as a novelty and didn’t spend the time and effort to get the shades right. With a wide range of colors, there’s something for every color comfort level and skin tone. I’d say cut down on the bottoms. If you’re anything like me, you have 20 pairs of jeans and you only wear 2 or 3 regularly. Only bring the ones you absolutely love, and wear all the time! Use that extra space to stock up on different tops, because they’ll make more outfits than different bottoms will. When it comes to the essentials like shoes/jackets, make sure you have them in the neutrals you need so they can go with anything. Aside from that, be harsh with yourself! I overpack ALL the time, especially when I come home for the summer or breaks. Say to yourself, “how often do I ACTUALLY wear this?” And only bring what you keep in your regular rotation. The first thing you’ll need is a GREAT pair of jeans. I kid you not, I have four pairs of J Brands that I bought on eBay for $40 each. They’ve lasted me years, and the quality is great. If your budget is even tighter, the jegging-like skinnies at Forever 21 are comfy and fit great, but they won’t last as long. They usually run less than $15. When it comes to tops, make sure you have cardigans in neutrals so you always have something to keep warm. (I don’t know about you, but my classrooms are ALWAYS freezing!) Top-wise, you can never go wrong with simple solids. My general “I-don’t-feel-like-putting-in-effort” uniform is a pair of skinnies that make my legs look nice, a bigger oversized top, and a big long pendant. So make sure you have in your wardrobe: great jeans, solid shirts, and big pendants. The pendant will jazz up an otherwise boring outfit. Let me know how it goes!

The cutaway is the newest modified maxi skirt. The difference between a slit and a cutaway is that a cutaway actually has some fabric taken out as opposed to just a line cut through it. It’s sexy, it shows some skin, and it’s perfect for summer!

This is a slanted cut for the skirt, and it looks fantastic with the crop top!

The way the wind hits a cutaway skirt is gorgeous, because it lets your legs breathe!

I am obsessed with this skirt and have been ever since I saw it in this DKNY ad.

I ADORE this outfit. It’s definitely made for a chilly spring day or a brisk fall one. I love how the tights are added with it! Notice that when it’s that cold, she’s all covered up with the exception of that leg.

This is a great way to dress it down. Lazy, comfy and chic!

Again with such a high cutaway and so much skin on the bottom, you don’t look like a school marm if you cover up a bit on top.

I don’t have any analysis on this outfit other than I just love it.

First off, confidence is key! Everybody has insecurities about their body, and being content with your figure is easier said than done. The only advice I can give you is to know what your best assets are, and know what your problem areas are. That way, you can play up what is great about you! I can give you a little more specific advice if you let me know what your body type is and what areas you’re insecure about, so I hope you write back! Above all, embrace you for who you are!
