A button, a necklace, anything. There’s something so… Massachusetts-Connecticut about the preppy nautical theme.

This is a cool twist!

Simply adorable. I wonder where the hell I’d ever find this!

This dress is ADORABLE.

I’m loving these nails. You can find the nautical nail tutorial here!
I personally would love to go, however I wouldn’t settle for the Correspondents Dinner. In case you didn’t know, the invitations are sent out by the press, so it’s more of a photo op than anything. However, I consider myself a very politically engaged person so I’d totally love getting to spend time listening to the president. And, of course, spend so much time around so much great couture.
Let me just say, though, that so many people were in these tight hoochie-mama looking dresses. I did expect that from Sofia Vergara, but seeing Rosario Dawson’s bolt-on-boobs at a White House event was really disappointing. Class it up, ladies!

Dakota Fanning in Prada. Let me tell you, girl has grown UP! I love that her dress is classy but still age-appropriate, with that plunging v-neck and small keyhole. A) Props to Prada, that keyhole underneath the V-point is very unique and I’ve never seen it before. I love it! B) Dakota gets and A+ for understanding what so few people do: The flatter-chested pull off these plunging necklines better than anyone else.

Diane Keaton and Rashida Jones. Diane did her usual, which is fine by me. Girlfriend knows what she likes and makes it work for her. Rashida looked fantastic, and not at all hoochie-mama!

Elizabeth Banks. She is always flawless, and if you’ve ever read or watched an interview with her, you can tell she’s a genuine person. What I love about her is that she speaks so openly and gratefully about her son Felix’s surrogate mother, and she has a great relationship with her. Anyway, this dress is perfect for a formal political event I think. It’s still on trend with that well-tailored peplum and the casual updo, but still speaks to the sophisticated person. Love it and her!

Kerry Washington in Calvin Klein. Holy crap is she gorgeous. I am so envious of African-American skin and the way it looks in colors like these. Think about this gown on Dakota Fanning. It would look awful! I love that even though it’s a slimmer fit, it’s not skin tight. I think that’s important for a sophisticated event like this. Ms. Washington looked gorgeous in Washington, that’s for sure. (I had to.)

Full disclosure: I have the biggest girl crush on Lana del Rey. I love her music and her style. I saw this picture and thought, though, aren’t those earrings for prison inmates? Or women who have dark lipliner and drawn on eyebrows? What do you guys think?
